The Catholic Church of St. Martin in Ruppertsberg ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) is dedicated to St. Martin of Tours . The church is listed as an individual monument in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate's list of monuments and, along with the collegiate church in Kaiserslautern, is the only preserved Gothic hall church in the Palatinate .

location

The building is in the center of the village and has the address Kirchstraße 11.

Building stock

The Martinskirche is a three-aisled , five-bay late Gothic hall. All three ships are the same height. The nave was attached to an older choir around 1500, then with three bays. The interior of the church is subdivided into parts by belt and partition arches , which have a cross-vaulted ceiling, the ribs of which are grooved. The keystones of the cross vaults bear the coats of arms of von Ingelheim, von Fleckenstein and von Handschuhsheim - the local noble families - as well as that of the Speyer bishop Ludwig von Helmstatt . The pillars have an octagonal plan.

When the church was expanded in 1859/60, the nave was extended by another yoke to the west and the tower was built in front of it ; In addition, a new choir was built in front of the old one and a sacristy to the north of it .

Furnishing

The stone pulpit allegedly created by Lorenz Lechler around 1510 originally comes from the Church of Our Lady in Worms .
