The Catholic parish church of St. Martin in Zusamaltheim , a municipality in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube , was built in the 17th century. The church at Wertinger Straße 2 is a protected architectural monument .

history

The patronage of St. Martin suggests that the parish was founded in Franconian times. The choir was built in 1630 and the late Gothic nave was raised and lengthened by Matthias Kraus in 1724. In 1830/31 the tower was renewed on its late Gothic foundations. In 1905 the two round stair towers with the sign in the west were added.

architecture

The single-aisled building is structured by pilasters and covered by a barrels of lancet caps . The retracted choir is closed in a semicircle. To the north is the square tower, which is covered by a pyramid helmet.

Banded stucco work with acanthus tendrils, executed by Joseph Schmuzer in 1724 , decorate the walls. A cartouche with the coat of arms of the Hochstift Augsburg is located above the choir arch . The frescoes in the choir were done in 1861 by Andreas Merkle, those in the nave in 1905 by Hans Kögl.

Furnishing

The altars were made by Sebastian Strobel in 1805. The paintings in it are by Konrad Huber . The pulpit basket was created by Bernhard Wibel in 1681/82, the sound cover (1905) by Sebastian Strobel.

Leaded glass window

The lead glass windows depicting saints, the evangelists and the Holy Family were made in the workshop of Franz Xaver Zettler in Munich.
