The Catholic branch church St. Nikolaus in Wolpertstetten , a part of Blindheim , belongs to the parish Unterglauheim and is located in the district of Dillingen on the Danube in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia . history

In 1150 the place was first mentioned as "Vollparnstetten". There is evidence of a church as early as 1215. Whether this was ever a parish church cannot be proven. In the 13th century Wolpertstetten came into the possession of the Kaisheim monastery . Today's church, consecrated to St. Nicholas , was built in 1750 by the abbot of Kaisheim, Cölestin I. Meermols. Johann Georg Hitzelberger from Ziemetshausen is believed to be the master builder .

Wolpertstetten initially belonged to the parish Blindheim, from which it was separated in 1921 and assigned to Unterglauheim .

Exterior construction

Pilasters structure the simple building, which ends in a basket-arched choir in the east . In the apex of the choir, the square substructure of the tower protrudes like a risalit . The hexagonal upper floor of the tower is crowned with an onion dome. The west facade is also structured by pilasters and divided by profiled cornices . The entrance is on the south side, to which the sacristy is built.

Paintings

The ceiling paintings date from 1750 and were executed in the style of Johann Anwander . They depict the transfiguration of St. Nicholas, the coronation of the saint by the Trinity and the baptism of a prince by St. Nicholas who has an idol removed from its pedestal. The gussets are decorated with grisailles with scenes from the life of St. Nicholas. On the gallery parapet, St. Cecilia is shown playing on the organ.

Furnishing

The altar dates from 1912 and was created in the neo-baroque style by G. Saumweber. The enthroned Mother of God is dated to 1460/70.
