The Church of St. Remigius is a Catholic church in Beeden , a district of Homburg , the district town of the Saarpfalz district in Saarland . The church is a branch church of the parish Maria vom Frieden ( Erbach ). The church patron is St. Remigius . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

Until 1948 the Catholics of Beeden and the neighboring Schwarzenbach were looked after by the Homburg parish of St. Michael , then from Limbach . In Beeden itself an emergency church was set up in a barrack , most of which is still standing today.

On October 18, 1953 the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a church building in Beeden. Dean Greiff, pastor of St. Michael , was the actual building owner , but the long-time pastor of Limbach and Beeden, Johannes Bechem, practically directed the construction work. It was built according to plans by Beeder architect Herbert Lück (he also designed the Church of St. Corpus Christi in Homburg), who had made a vow during World War II to do everything for the construction of a Catholic church in Beeden. Numerous residents participated in the construction with personal and financial commitment. All the stones in the building were burned inside the church. On June 18, 1954, Beeden (with Schwarzenbach) became its own parish and the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on November 15, 1954 . The consecration of the Church of St. Remigius took place on November 6, 1955 by the Speyer bishop Isidor Markus Emanuel .

Furnishing

The large church windows with the “Crucifixion” and “Resurrection of Jesus” as well as the “Baptism of Clovis ” by the church patron St. Remigius were created in 1955 by the Hungarian-German architect and church window painter György Lehoczky ( Saarbrücken ).

In 1986 Emil Mrowetz Tholey-Überroth created a wooden statue of St. Remigius for the church . He is shown with a baptismal bowl and oil bottle.

The cross in the choir was given to the church by the Homburg parish of St. Michael .

organ

The organ of the church was originally built in 1987 by the company Josef Weimbs Orgelbau ( Hellenthal ) for the Catholic parish church Maria Himmelfahrt in ( Mülheim-Kärlich ). In 1999 the company Hugo Mayer Orgelbau ( Heusweiler ) installed this organ in the St. Remigius Church . The single-manual instrument with built-in console , which is set up in the nave opposite the altar , has 8 registers and a pedal . The wind chests are mechanical slide chests.

Bells

The three-part chime in the Gloria motif was created by master Alfred Paccard from the bell foundry of the same name in Annecy. They are all from 1958. The bell house contains a steel bell cage, paired with three straight steel yokes on which the bells are attached. The Schneider company from Schonach (Black Forest), which also set up the system, is responsible for the maintenance intervals. According to the chime, the bell rings on almost all liturgical occasions. With the Angelus, on the other hand, the smallest bell rings.
