The Roman Catholic Kuratiekirche St. Simon and Judas Thaddäus is the village church of Wasserlosen in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . It is one of the architectural monuments of Wasserlosen and is registered under the number D-6-78-192-1 in the Bavarian list of monuments .

history

In 1574 a church in Wasserlosen is mentioned for the first time, which is dedicated to Saints Simon and Jude Thaddäus . The church tower was built as the oldest part of the church in 1602 under Prince Bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn with the typical pointed roof . The nave was built in 1808. In 1921 it was expanded for the first time. A second expansion took place in 1977. On January 17, 1979, the Würzburg Auxiliary Bishop Alfons Kempf inaugurated the significantly enlarged church building.

Description and equipment

The eastern choir is located in the basement of the church tower. The original nave (lengthened to the west) is now extended to the south by an annex that looks like two additional naves to the outside . The classical high altar with two angels next to the tabernacle was acquired from the church of Eßleben in 1893 . Behind him is a mural depicting Christ in the center of the church patron. The side altars in the Rococo style are works by Peter Wagner and date back to the monastery gates of heaven . Nikolaus Treu made her paintings in 1762. The side figures are the saints Luitgard and Franziska (left) and Joachim and Anna (right). Below the painting are the gilded figures of Christ Salvator (left) and Our Lady (right). The pulpit is also rococo. The font is moved to the southern extension. Gilded figures of Saints Mary and Joseph are also attached above it . The organ is set up on the western gallery .

Peal

The ringing consists of two bells . The older one with the strike note h 'bears the name of the church cartridge. The Marienglocke with the strike note a´ came into the tower in 1952.
