Guthmannshausen, St. Trinitatis

The Evangelical Lutheran village church of St. Trinitatis is located at Hauptstrasse 225 in Guthmannshausen , a district of the rural community of Buttstädt in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia . The parish Guthmannshausen belongs to the parish area Rastenberg in the parish of Apolda-Buttstädt of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

Guthmannshausen is first mentioned at the beginning of the 8th century. After the almost complete destruction in the Thirty Years War , the new parish church of St. Trinitatis was rebuilt in 1687. The choir tower , which still stood from the former church and originated from the high Middle Ages , could remain standing and was now part of the new church. A fire disaster destroyed the village in 1793. However, the church was saved. A memorial plaque from 1893 above the portal commemorates this.

description

The hall church has a retracted choir tower. The nave is covered with a half- hip roof. On the east side of the choir there is an arched window , on the south side there are only remnants of a second one. All pointed arch windows and the arched portals on the long sides of the nave are from the time it was built. The interior is covered with a wooden barrel vault. Its abutments are decorated with stucco . The galleries are two-story on three sides, their parapets are richly decorated. A third gallery was built in the west of the nave in the 18th century.

Furnishing

The church furnishings at the time it was built were only slightly changed. The church stalls from the time of construction are decorated in many ways. In the choir is an elaborate baroque pulpit altar with a three-zone, staggered prospect. It was built by Jakob Zaubitzer from Gaberndorf in 1709. In the lower zone there are palm trees with twisting trunks. The pulpit with the carved figures of Christ Salvator and the Evangelists is located in the middle zone , divided by very slender columns . It is flanked by shell-shaped niches with the sculptures of Moses and Malachi . In addition, a late medieval crucifix with the emaciated body of the crucified is preserved. A stone baptismal font dates from 1603, a fragment of a kneeling baptismal angel from the 18th century and a chalice-like, early classical baptismal font from 1787. The organ with 22 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built by Emil Heerwagen around 1880 . The organ prospect is neo-Gothic .
