The church served as the court church of the Georgenthal hunting lodge .

description

After being destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , the interior of the church was redesigned in Baroque style by the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach in 1706 , while the exterior remained late Gothic . During this time Mathias Auernheimer created the stucco ceiling . The altar and pulpit are by Giuseppe Volpini , the setting of the altar by Sebastian Ludwig Hopfer . In 1713 Wilhelm Friedrich donated an oil painting with a Gethsemane scene to the church .

A ribbed vault forms the east choir . On the north wall of the choir, the legend of Wolfgang is shown on 24 pictures in four registers. Frescoes were uncovered in the 1940s . A major renovation took place in 1994 and 1995.

The church tower from the 16th century on the west side is crowned by a pointed helmet added in 1791. The four-story tower was expanded octagonally in 1711 . The building is made of sandstone .

graveyard

On the cemetery is the grave monument of Ph. A. Bolz, a three-sided pyramid limestone from 1814, a listed building.
