Run

The Staffelbach rises southwest of the Rannaberg ( 891  m above sea level ) and south-southeast of the city center of the municipality of Sonnen in the district of the village of Oberneureuth at an altitude of 705  m above sea level. NHN . After about 400 m it flows at an altitude of 679  m above sea level. NHN today another, longer source branch, which at an altitude of 719  m above sea level. NHN arises. This is likely to have arisen only in the 19th century through forestry interventions; In any case, it cannot yet be found in the Bavarian original cadastre from the 1810s. From there, the Staffelbach flows for about the first third of its course in a westerly direction through a gently sloping valley between Oberneureuther Berg ( 832  m above sea level ) in the north and Ruhmannsberg ( 862  m above sea level ) and later Staffelberg ( 793  m above sea level). NHN ) in the south.

Shortly before the municipal boundary of Hauzenberg, a stream feeds first from the left and, last but not least, the Staffelbach from the south-southeast. On the western border of the Hauzenberg hamlet Sieglmühle , close to house 1, the Keinzlmühlbach comes from the right and very last north-northeast and about two hundred meters after the hamlet Sieglmühle another stream from the left from the direction of the solitude of Gemeindewies and, at the very end, the southeast.

In the gently sloping valley between Sieglmühle and the Hauzenberg hamlet of Grüblmühle , the Staffelbach winds increasingly and even meanders a little. In this section opposite the village of Penzlstadl on the right slope the Ruhmannsdorfer Bach feeds from the left and from the very last southeast, then towards the end of the long initial westward run to the Grublmühle a brook from the direction of the village Raßreuth from the right and from the very last northeast the Staffelbach.

Between Grüblmühle and the hammer mill in the Hauzenberg village of Freudensee , State Road 2128 runs almost parallel to the Staffelbach for a short stretch before it turns south. Exactly at this change of direction, the Neustiftler Bach flows from the right and very last north-northeast through the Hammerschmiede, which is located close to the right bank, and which has just passed through the almost 6 hectare Mühlweiher Freudensee.

The Staffelbach now runs south-south-westerly through the eastern foothills of the city of Hauzenberg . In this area of the city and just before the Hauzenberger Eckmühle there is a 1.6 km long nature experience path, the twelve stations of which invite you to explore nature on site. Further down the stream is the Hauzenberg city park with a measuring point of the Deggendorf Water Management Office , which identifies the Staffelbach as water type  5, i.e. as a high-volume, siliceous low mountain stream.

On the south-eastern outskirts of Hauzenberg, the state road St 2320 crosses a bridge over the Staffelbach, before it flows again in a westerly direction and, after a few changes of direction, in a southwesterly direction. In this section, a creek approx. 0.6 km long feeds the Staffelbach from the left and, at the very end, southeast at a creek level of 462  m above sea level. NHN .

After the Danglmühle in Hauzenberg there is a south-facing arch, after which the Staffelbach first turns west again in an increasingly narrow and deep, wooded valley and from the direction of the village of Weiherreuth the Sandbächlein flows from the right and very last north-west. About 100 meters down the Staffelbach is dammed by a small weir. From here on, the Staffelbach flows more and more southwest through a wooded notch valley . Between the village of Oberholz and the hamlet of Loifing on the two valley heights, it drives a small hydroelectric power station.

In the area of the hamlet of Neumühle one and a half kilometers further down the valley, two more streams flow into the Staffelbach from the left, the first from the very last east about 200 meters before the hamlet, the second flows into the hamlet itself at house number 4 from the very last southeast. About 300 m downstream from Neumühle, the Staffelbach passes a sewage treatment plant, before two still standing viaducts of the disused railway line Passau – Hauzenberg cross the stream to the southwest . Immediately after the second, a stream coming from the left plateau and originating north of the village of Windpassing feeds the Staffelbach from the very last east-northeast. A little later, an agricultural ford crosses the Staffelbach, before it runs after another curve in a southerly direction towards the hamlet of Kaindlmühle . Shortly below this lowest mill place on the run, a last stream flows from the left and very last to the southeast.

South of Kaindlmühle, the disused railway line Passau – Hauzenberg crosses the Staffelbach on a bridge and approx. 90 m later the district road PA 40 via piping, before it joins the Erlau another 40 m later from the left and at the very last north-northwest.

The Staffelbach has a total length of 16 km and, based on the height information from the origin and mouth, an average gradient of 23 ‰.
