Stanisław Budzik (born April 25, 1952 in Łękawica , Poland ) is a Polish theologian and Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lublin .

Life

Stanisław Budzik occurred after high school into the seminary one, studied theology and philosophy and was on May 29, 1977 by Bishop George Ablewicz for priests in the Diocese of Tarnów ordained. After his work in the parish pastoral from 1977 to 1982 he went to study dogmatics at the theological faculty of the University of Innsbruck . In 1988 he received his Ph.D. , back in Tarnów he became Caritas director and lecturer at the seminary. From 1997 to 2004 he taught at the Pontifical Theological Academy in Cracow . 2001 Provost of the Tarnów Cathedral Chapter , Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of " Monsignore " (Chaplain to His Holiness) on June 11, 2001 .

On February 24, 2004 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Tarnów and titular bishop of Hólar . The Bishop of Tarnów, Wiktor Skworc , ordained him bishop on April 3 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Józef Miroslaw Zycinski , Archbishop of Lublin , and Józef Kowalczyk , Apostolic Nuncio in Poland .

In 2007 he was elected General Secretary of the Polish Bishops' Conference.

On September 26, 2011 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Lublin. On October 22, 2011, he was introduced to his archbishopric in St. John's Cathedral (Lublin) .

Episcopal coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a golden triangle (symbol of the divine trinity) on a blue background, on it a red patriarchal cross (dignity of the archbishop), the "M" for Mary and the "J" for the diocese patrons John the Baptist and John (Evangelist) . Above the coat of arms the green galero with ten tassels hanging down.

His motto is: In virtute crucis ("The power of the cross") from Paul's letter to the Galatians ( Gal 6,14  EU ).
