Stefanie Heimgartner (born April 25, 1987 in Baden ) is a Swiss politician. She has been a member of the Swiss National Council since 2019 .

Life

Stefanie Heimgartner grew up in the canton of Aargau in Baden. According to her own statements, she was engaged as a handball player in various clubs as a teenager . She is a trained clerk and chauffeuse and works in her parents' transport and logistics company.

Political career

In 2009, at the age of 22, Stefanie Heimgartner was successful in the election to the city ​​council of Baden and was re-elected in 2013, which she succeeded again in 2017. In 2016 and 2017 she held the office of President of the Residents' Council.

In 2012 she was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau with 6,929 votes . In 2016, she was also re-elected to the Grand Council. It received the most votes with 9,567 of all members of the council.

Stefanie Heimgartner ran for the National Council in 2011 and 2015 without success. In 2015 she was able to achieve 10th place on the SVP's list with 64,559 votes and thus the third substitute place on the list.

In 2019 she was elected to the National Council. She slipped on the list of SVP in the canton of Aargau for Hansjörg Knecht , who was newly elected in the second ballot, to the National Council. She was sworn in on December 2, 2019.
