Stefon Jackson (born May 7, 1985 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Jackson played as a professional in Europe. After brief engagements in Turkey and Greece, he played for two years in the Belgian Ethias League . Since the 2014/15 season he has been playing in the German ProA for the first division relegated s.Oliver Baskets from Würzburg, after having played almost two seasons in the top division for the Eisbären Bremerhaven.

Career

Jackson grew up in Philadelphia and moved to the University of Texas at El Paso to study in 2005 . Their university team Miners has played in the Conference USA of the NCAA since 2005 and is a historically particularly significant team of the NCAA, since at the height of the Afro-American civil rights movement in 1966 the Miners were the first team with five Afro-American players in the starting five to make up the NCAA Division I. Basketball Championship and later inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a team . However, all later Miners teams could not follow up on this success and in the new Conference a championship success or a final round participation during Jackson's season remained denied the Miners . Jackson himself was an exceptionally good "scorer" for the Miners and scored 2,456 points in his four-year college career, the most points of all players who have played in the conference that has existed since 1995. He is also the best point collector in the history of the UTEP Miners , for whom players such as the later NBA All-Stars Nate Archibald and Tim Hardaway had previously played in other NCAA conferences.

Despite his personally impressive statistics, Jackson was not selected by any club in the NBA Draft 2009 from the highest endowed professional league NBA and therefore started his professional career in 2009 in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi for Darüşşafaka SK from Istanbul . However, the team put down a false start with twelve defeats in the beginning and won the first game of the season not before January 2010; Jackson's contract had already been terminated after four defeats at the start of the season. Later Jackson got a contract in the Greek A1 Ethniki for GS Olympia from Larisa in his first professional season . Jackson, however, together with the former German international Demond Greene, could no longer prevent Olympia from being relegated as bottom of the table with only four wins this season. In the following season Jackson then played in the Belgian Pepinster for the RBC. Jackson was top scorer of the Ethias League 2010/11 with an average of just over 16 points , but could not prevent Pepinster from missing the championship play-offs of the best six teams as third from bottom of the nine-team league . In the following season he played for the league competitor and runner-up Okapi Aalstar from Aalst . Together with the top scorer 2011/12 and later NBA professional Chris Copeland , Okapi was eliminated this time in the first round of the play-offs.

For the basketball Bundesliga 2012/13 Jackson got a contract with the German first division club Eisbären from Bremerhaven . There he plays with Stanley Burrell , who like Jackson had previously played in Pepinster and Aalst, but at different seasons. After a disappointing season in which the polar bears missed the play-offs, there was a change of coach and in March 2014 Jackson gave personal reasons after injury problems at the beginning of the season to terminate his contract in Bremerhaven before the end of the season. The following season he moved to the first division relegated s.Oliver Baskets from Würzburg , who had signed Douglas Spradley, their first coach in Bremerhaven.
