Stephen Parkes

Stephen D. Parkes (born June 2, 1965 in Mineola , New York ) is an American clergyman and appointed Roman Catholic Bishop of Savannah .

Life

Stephen Parkes attended Massapequa High School in New York City from 1979 to 1983 . In 1987 he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of South Florida at Tampa and then worked for various banks. In 1992 Parkes entered the Saint Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach , where he studied philosophy and Catholic theology . He received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Orlando on May 23, 1998 .

After ordination, Stephen Parkes served as the parish vicar of the Parish Annunciation in Altamonte Springs , before becoming parish administrator and then pastor of Most Precious Blood parish in Oviedo in 2005 . From 2004 to 2011 he was also a college chaplain at the University of Central Florida in Orlando . In 2011 Parkes became pastor of the Parish Annunciation in Altamonte Springs. He was also chaplain since 2009 companion the Catholic Foundation of Central Florida , and since 2010 dean of the deanery of Central North and secretary of the priests council of the Diocese of Orlando.

On July 8, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Savannah.

His older brother, Gregory Lawrence Parkes (* 1964), is Bishop of Saint Petersburg .
