Strehlow is a residential area belonging to the district of Potzlow in the municipality of Oberuckersee in the district of Uckermark in the north-east of Brandenburg . The place was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into Potzlow on January 1, 1926.

location

Strehlow is located in the Uckermark , ten kilometers south of Prenzlau . Surrounding places are Zollchow in the north, Seehausen in the east, Potzlow in the south, Pinnow in the southwest, Sternhagen Gut in the west and Sternhagen in the northwest. Strehlow is located on Möllensee and southwest of Unteruckersee .

The district road 7320 leads through Strehlow, the district road 7318 is about one kilometer south in the neighboring village of Potzlow.

history

Strehlow was first mentioned in 1317 as a strele in a document in which the Margrave of Brandenburg assigned the villages of Strehlow and Haßleben to the Sack brothers . The name Stelow is documented for 1441 . The place name comes from a Slavic language and means "arrow", according to Reinhard E. Fischer this metaphorically refers to Strehlow's location at an estuary. The Mühlgraben flows into the Ucker near the village . In 1431 the Strehlow manor came into the possession of the local aristocratic family zu Arnim .

On January 1, 1926, the rural community Strehlow was incorporated into Potzlow . Until 1952 the place was in the district of Templin , after the GDR district reform in the same year Strehlow belonged to the district of Prenzlau in the district of Neubrandenburg . Since the turnaround and the Brandenburg district reform in 1993, the place has belonged to the Uckermark district . Potzlow joined the community of Oberuckersee on December 31, 2001 .

Strehlow manor
  • The Protestant village church of Strehlow was built as a stone church in the 13th century. The tower top dates from 1747. In 1945 the church burned down, only the surrounding walls and the sacristy vault remained. Only in 2005 did the reconstruction of the church begin.
  • The farm Strehlow was built from the early 18th century. The manor house is a two-story half - timbered building with a hipped roof . At the beginning of the 19th century a small manor park was created. A brick barn from 1871, which is a listed building , also belongs to the estate .

Tourism and leisure

Strehlow is part of the Uckermärkische Seen region , the Berlin – Usedom long-distance cycle route leads through the village. The sports field of the local football club Potzlower SV 49 is located in Strehlow .
