The Strelasund was a German seaside resort ship that was used in the liner service between Stralsund , Hiddensee and Rügen .

history

The steamer ran in 1900 and at Nüscke Co. in Stettin as Werner launched . In contrast to the sister ships Hans and Hanni , the Werner was classified as a seagoing ship . The Stettiner Dampfschiffs-Gesellschaft J. F. Braeunlich used the Werner on the line Stettin - Grabow - Bredow - Züllchow - Frauendorf - Gotzlow - Glienke - Kratzwieck and back. After a short period of use, the ship was acquired by the Stettin shipping company Albert Stenzel & Rolke and sold in 1902 to the steamship company "Gotzlow", Stettin.

From 1909 it belonged to the Stettin-Wollin-Cammin-Dievenower Dampfschiffs-Gesellschaft mbH. This used the Werner and the Dievenow I motorboat for several trips a day between Cammin and Dievenow during the season . In 1925 the ship was renamed Wollin and 1929 Dievenow . In 1930 the Dievenow was classified as a barge.

The Dievenow reached the Strelasund in early February 1945 and was in Stralsund until January 1946. Here it was made roadworthy again, for driving on Lagoon and Bodden classified and under the name Strelasund property of the city council of Stralsund. It was used on weekends for trips between Stralsund and Neuendorf . When the former HAPAG passenger ships Hamburg and Hansa were salvaged , the Strelasund served as a supply and passenger transport ship.

The DSU took over Strelasund in January 1950 and used it in regular services between Stralsund and Lauterbach on Rügen as well as to Baabe , Greifswald , Wolgast and on Sundays to Neuendorf. In the 1953 season the Strelasund drove between Wismar and Kirchdorf on Poel . The last excursion took place in August 1954, before the steamship was abandoned in Wolgast in 1955.

technology

The ship was 29.6 meters long, 5.42 meters wide and measured 89  GRT . A compound steam engine with an output of 150 hp brought the ship to a speed of 10  knots . The crew consisted of five men. Up to 330 passengers could be carried.
