Studio for New Music at the University of Siegen
The Studio for New Music at the University of Siegen is a series of concerts and events based in the city of Siegen that focuses on contemporary music .
founding
The Studio for New Music at the University of Siegen was founded by Martin Herchenröder . His main idea was to supplement the range of courses at the University of Siegen with concerts, lectures, workshops, performances and master classes. That is why the events are organized by students and lecturers from Siegen University as well as by invited interpreters of new music from Germany and abroad. Due to the demand from outside the university various venues were set up within the entire city of Siegen, such as the Apollo Theater Siegen , the Lyz , Nikolai Church and St. Martin Church , the Museum of Contemporary Art Siegen and the Siegerland Museum , the Upper Castle and various schools.
Events
The first event took place on February 6, 1995. In addition to German premieres by Steve Everett, Graciane Finzi, Jean-Yves Malmasson, Michael Ostrzyga and Karlheinz Stockhausen , numerous works were also premiered. In addition to concerts and festival series (Crumb Festival 2009, Helden-Platz! Concerts: Vienna 1914–2014), workshops and interdisciplinary events, for example between music and architecture, art, literature or mathematics, are offered on a regular basis.

Posters
Since the beginning of the series of events, the posters used to advertise the events have been designed by the Cologne painter and graphic artist Daniel Hees. Hees consciously chooses the format, the paper and the font, whereas he adds new watercolors or drawings to each design that correspond to the respective concert program. The posters are and will be taken up as a collection in the Hamburg Museum of Art and Industry , in the German Poster Museum of the Folkwang Museum in Essen and in the Siegen University Library .
