Sunk Pöschl

Sunk Pöschl (* 1955 in Munich ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( drums ).

Career

Pöschl initially received lessons at the Munich Jazz School. From 1977 to 1979 he studied classical percussion in Munich. He was a finalist three times in the Deutsche Phonoakademie's young talent competition with the following bands: EMPS-Trio (with Max Neissendorfer , Peter Christl; 1978), New Trace Jazz Quartet (with Frank Loef, Peter Tuscher , Mario Castronari ; 1979) and the Paul Grabowsky Trio (with Rocky Knauer ; 1981). He also played with Frank St. Peter / Ken Rhodes , Wolfgang Dauner , Roman Schwaller , Leszek Zadlo and in a trio operated together with Heiri Känzig . He toured Europe with both Grabowsky and with Dave Burrell's trio (with Leonard Jones ).

Since 1985 Pöschl has also recorded or played with the Art Lande - Paolo Fresu Quartet, Thomas Reimer , Larry Porter , Allan Praskin , Tony Lakatos , Bob Dorough , Peggy Stern and Wolfgang Engstfeld . In 1986 there was the first collaboration with the pianist Andy Lutter , which not only extended to his Andy Lutter Trio (with Peter Bockius or Henning Sieverts ), but also to the groups Balance (with Tina May , Don Weller , Josh Roseman ) and Four Stress men .

From 2000 he belonged to the Djaosch Macholi Orchestra and Wanja Slavin's sextet , from 2005 he worked in the Trio of Leonid Chizhik and in the ICI Ensemble , with which there were recordings with Barry Guy , Olga Neuwirth , William Parker and Peter Brötzmann .
