Sven Thorgren (born October 4, 1994 in Sollentuna ) is a Swedish snowboarder .

Career

Thorgren has been participating in the TTR World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2008 . He achieved his first podium finishes in the 2009/10 season with second place in slopestyle at the Chillinvitational in Gesunda Resort and third place at the 2010 Protest World Rookie Finals in Ischgl . At the beginning of the following season he won the Slopestyle at the South America Rookie Fest in Valle Nevado . He drove his first FIS World Cup race in October 2010 in London , which he finished in 16th place in the Big Air competition. At the 2011 Snowboard World Championships in La Molina , he came in 38th place in slopestyle. In April 2011, he finished second in the Slopestyle at the Protest World Rookie Finals in Ischgl. In the 2011/12 season he won again in slopestyle at the South America Rookie Fest in Valle Nevado and at the Protest World Rookie Finals in Ischgl. At the Snowboard World Championships in Oslo in 2012 , he took sixth place in slopestyle. In August 2013 he came third in slopestyle at the Billabong Bro Down in New Zealand. At the Snowboard World Championships in 2013 in Stoneham , he achieved 18th place in slopestyle. In March 2013 he reached the Swedish Snowboard Series in Kläppen . A week later he took third place in slopestyle at the FIS World Cup races in Špindlerův Mlýn, his first World Cup podiums. At the 2013 Swedish championship in Kläppen, he became champion in slopestyle. He finished the season in second place in the FIS Slopestyle classification. In the 2013/14 season he won in slopestyle at the O'Neill Pleasure Jam in Schladming and in Big Air at Air & Style Beijing 2013 in Beijing . He came second in Big Air at the Swedish Snowboard Series in Tandådalen and in slopestyle at the Dew Tour Mountain Championships in Breckenridge . At his first Olympic Winter Games in Sochi , Thorgren came fourth in the Slopestyle competition, which was held for the first time, with 87.50 points. He came third at the Toyota Big Air in Sapporo . In March 2014, as in the previous year, he became the Swedish champion in slopestyle. He finished the season in second place in the World Snowboard Tour Big Air classification. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he won the Big Air competition at freestyle.ch in Zurich . At the Winter X Games 2015 in Aspen , he won bronze in slopestyle. In the further course of the season he took the Ale Invite in Big Air in Ale and first place in Slopestyle at the Swedish Snowboard Series in Kläppen. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he came third in the slopestyle at The Mile High in Perisher Blue . Third was also in December 2015 at the Air & Style in Beijing. At the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen , he took eighth place in Slopestyle and Big Air. In February 2016 he took sixth place at Air & Style in Innsbruck and third place in Los Angeles , winning the overall Air & Style ranking. At the 2016 Snowboard World Championships in Yabuli , he took 13th place in slopestyle and eighth place in big air competition. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he won the slopestyle at The Mile High in Perisher . At the Winter X Games 2017 he took 17th place in slopestyle and seventh place in Big Air. He came third at Air & Style in Innsbruck and fourth in Los Angeles. In March 2017 he won the gold medal in slopestyle at the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell . He also came there and at the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada in sixth place in Big Air. At the Burton US Open 2017 in Vail , he took third place in slopestyle.

After first place in Big Air in Beijing at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Thorgren won the bronze medal in Big Air at the Winter X-Games 2019. He also achieved tenth place in slopestyle there. At the following World Championships in Park City , he came in 16th place in slopestyle. At the beginning of March 2019 he finished second in slopestyle at the Burton US Open and at the end of the season he finished sixth in the Big Air World Cup. At the X-Games Norway 2019 he won the silver medal in Big Air. In the 2019/20 season he came with three top ten finishes, including second place in Big Air in Beijing, 16th place in the Freestyle World Cup and to fifth place in the Big Air World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2020 he won the bronze medal in Big Air and at the X Games Norway 2020 in Hafjell, he came fifth in Big Air and fourth in Slopestyle.
