Sylvain Périer , pseudonym : SP 38 , (* 1960 in Coutances , France ) is a French artist and painter who is part of the figuration libre movement .

Life

Périer spent his childhood and youth in Coutances. From 1976 to 1979 he completed a two-year training course at the “La Poulinière” art studio in Saint-Lô and at the Cherbourg School of Art .

He then moved to Paris , where he lived from 1981 to 1995. First he settled in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés quarter , moved several times and occupied numerous houses with artist initiatives such as CAES, Boinod, Garage 53, Europaint, Trévise, la Forge de Belleville, Turquetil1, rue du Dragon, rue Blanche, la Grange aux Belles…. He was also one of the key figures in the underground artist collective "Zen Copyright", which also included Pierre Davis-Dutreix, Momo, Pedrô !, Yarps, Ed. Néant and Myster X.

1985 SP 38 took part in the meeting for Urban Art in Bondy (France), which is organized by "Vive La Peinture" (VLP) with Jef Aérosol , Blek le rat , Miss.Tic , Speedy Graphito , Banlieue-Banlieue , Nuklé- Art , Epsylon Point , Futura 2000 ...

He spent a lot of time on Rue Dénoyez in Belleville in the 20th arrondissement, where he pasted his posters and art on walls and exhibited in the Frichez-nous la Paix2 gallery. He was very involved there until the summer of 2015.

In August 1995 he left France and went to Berlin , the city that “embodied everything that is possible in street art”. He joined the street artists and squatters of the Tacheles , the Acuds, von Prora on Rügen, the Gallery of Blooming Landscapes and the Stadtbad. He covers the walls of the city with posters and ironic slogans such as “Vive la bourgeoisie”, “Vive la crise”.

Since 2008 SP 38 has been actively involved in the literary and artistic "Instin" project initiated in 1997 by the French author Patrick Chatelier with his "INSTIN" posters, which he sticks on walls and facades in many countries around the world.

Today Périer lives in Berlin and travels the world a lot, to put his posters and stickers on walls and to exhibit his works.
