The district of Tápuc is located in the province of Daniel Alcides Carrión in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of 46.6 km². The 2017 census counted 2,469 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2932, in 2007 it was 3976. The district administration is located in the 3675 m high village of Tápuc with 1666 inhabitants (as of 2017). Tápuc is 7 km east-northeast of the provincial capital Yanahuanca .
Geographical location
The Tápuc district is located in the Andean highlands in the north of the Daniel Alcides Carrión province. It has a length in north-south direction of almost 12 km and a maximum width of about 6 km. The Río Chaupihuaranga crosses the district in a north-easterly direction.
The Tápuc district is bordered to the west by the district of San Pedro de Pillao , on the north by the district San Miguel de Cauri ( Lauricocha Province ), in the northeast on the district Paucar , on the east by the district Chacayán , the south by the district of Vilcabamba and in Southwest to the Yanahuanca district .
