Deadly Parties (original title: Murder in Three Acts ) is an American television film based on the detective novel " Nicotine " (1934) by Agatha Christie . It is the fifth film in the series in which Peter Ustinov played the role of " Hercule Poirot ", whom he had previously played in Death on the Nile (1978), Evil Under the Sun (1982), Mord à la Carte (1985 ) and Murder with Split Roles (1986) and which ended with Rendezvous with a Corpse (1988).
action
Instead of being able to write his memoirs, the Belgian master detective Hercule Poirot is confronted with a new case that takes him to Acapulco , where he has to solve a dubious series of poisonings.
Remarks
In contrast to the novel, the plot was moved from the 1930s to the 1980s and from England to Acapulco. The character of Mr. Satterthwaite was replaced by that of Arthur Hastings, who is better known to the public , and the English stage actor Sir Charles Cartwright became an American film star.
As part of the series Agatha Christie's Poirot , a remake was made with David Suchet in the lead role, which was published under the German title Nicotine (2010).
Reviews
"Banal adaptation of a crime play by Agatha Christie, staged for television as a babbling conversation piece."
