history

The river cruise ship with four passenger decks under the name Taras Shevchenko was built in 1991 at the German shipyard in Boizenburg for the shipping company "Dneprovskoje Rechnoje Parochodstvo" (Dnepr river shipping company) in Moscow and was the last to be delivered to the Soviet Union by the 302MK project. It belongs to a series of 27 + 1 ( Vladimir Vysotskiy - not finished) ships of the Dmitriy Furmanov class produced from 1983 to 1991 , a further development of the Vladimir Ilyich class from the same shipyard. The ship has a diesel drive with three main engines. The TG Shevchenko was operated by ASK "UkrRetschFlot" on the cruise route Kiev - Sevastopol - Odessa - Istanbul and back to Kiev. In 2003 the Ukrainian-flagged river cruise ship successfully completed the unique 300-year jubilee voyage on the Constanța- Ust Dunaisk ( Wylkowe ) route, despite the ban (ships flying a foreign flag are not allowed on the rivers in Russia by Ukas Peters the First ) - Yalta - Kherson - Zaporizhia - Dnipropetrovsk - Rostov-on-Don -Iljevka- Volgograd - Saratov - Nizhny Novgorod - Cheboksary - Yaroslavl - Saint Petersburg - Kizhi and back. The captain of the TG Shevchenko (as of 2003) was Anatoli Kot.
