Taber Gable

Taber Gable (* around 1990) is an American jazz musician ( piano , also composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

From a young age, Gable dealt with various musical areas such as jazz, gospel , rhythm & blues , soul . When he was nine he played the piano in church; he received his Bachelor in Jazz Studies from Hartford University (Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz), where he had the opportunity to study with Andy LaVerne , Steve Davis , René McLean , Javon Jackson and Nat Reeves . He completed his studies in 2018 at the Juilliard School with a master's in jazz, where he a. a. had lessons from Kenny Barron , Wynton Marsalis and Kenny Washington .

Gable has been working in the New York jazz scene since the mid-2010s. a. in The Dwonztet with Matt Dwonszyk and Steve Davis, also with musicians such as Abraham Burton , Jeremy Pelt , Jimmy Greene , Donald Brown , Eric McPherson , Freddie Hendrix , Nicholas Payton , Ben Wolfe , Peter Bernstein , Terrace Martin , Joe Farnsworth and Myron Walden . The first recordings were made in 2014 with Jovan Alexandre ( Collective Consciousness ), the Joshua Bruneau Septet ( Bright Idea ), in 2018 with Jonathan Barber ( Vision Ahead ) and the EJ Strickland Quintet ( Warriors for Peace ). Currently (2019) he leads his own quintet, which includes John Hasselbeck (trumpet), Kendrick McAllister (tenor saxophone), Matt Dwonszyk (bass) and Charles Goold (drums).
