Tamm Wedig Albert von Flemming (born June 10, 1812 in Haseleu , Regenwalde district , † January 7, 1886 in Wiesbaden ) was a Prussian major general , commander of the 8th Cavalry Brigade and Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John .

Life

origin

Tamm came from the Pomeranian noble family von Flemming . He was a son of the Prussian major and knight of the order Pour le Mérite Julius August von Flemming (1783-1858) and his wife Elise, née von Rüchel (1789-1816), a daughter of General Ernst von Rüchel .

Military career

Flemming visited the Berlin Cadet House and on August 13, 1830, was transferred to the 5th Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army as a portepeefähnrich . At the end of May 1831 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and in 1839/41 was commanded to the cavalry tribe of the 1st Battalion in the 9th Landwehr Regiment in Köslin . On March 1, 1847, he was transferred to the 1st Battalion in the 21st Landwehr Regiment in Konitz as a squadron leader . For training purposes he was assigned to the teaching squadron from October 1847 to 1849 and in the meantime rose to prime lieutenant in May 1848 . With promotion to Rittmeister , Flemming returned to his regular regiment on February 12, 1850 as squadron chief. With the promotion to major , he was transferred to the 8th Hussar Regiment as a regular staff officer on November 27, 1857 and in 1859 was commander of the 8th Landwehr Hussar Regiment for the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War . On May 12, 1860, he was transferred to the Pomeranian Hussar Regiment No. 5 in Stolp as a commander and was promoted to colonel in this position until the end of June 1865 .

During the German War in 1866 Flemming was the leader of the division cavalry of the 3rd Division in the 1st Army . He took part in the battles at Münchengrätz , Gitschin and Königgrätz and was awarded the Crown Order III for his work . Class with swords. In position à la suite of his regiment, he was appointed commander of the 8th Cavalry Brigade in Erfurt on October 30, 1866 and promoted to major general on March 22, 1868. In approval of his resignation request, Flemming was put up for disposal on November 21, 1869 with a pension . On the occasion of his farewell, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. He died on January 7, 1886 in Wiesbaden.

Flemming married on February 4, 1852 in Zezenow Anna von Zitzewitz (1829-1857), a daughter of Ernst Christoph von Zitzewitz (1798-1864), Lord of Zezenow. The couple had several children:
