Tanja Karišik is a student and lives in Pale . She is trained by Tomislav Lopatić and starts for SK Romanija Pale . She has been practicing biathlon since 2002 and has been a member of the national team in her country since 2005. She made her debut in the Junior European Biathlon Cup, which later became the IBU Cup , in Obertilliach in 2005 . She did not finish her first race, an individual. In the following years, too, she rarely finished this longest race in biathlon. Karišik took part in European Cup races comparatively often, while many other biathletes of the same age only participated sporadically or at least less regularly. The best result in this racing series was a 20th place in a sprint in Cesana San Sicario in 2008 . In Langdorf she took part in a junior European championship in biathlon for the first time in 2006. In the sprint she finished 62nd, in the individual she finished one place better. In 2007 she ran her first Junior World Championship and was 52nd in the sprint. She did not take part in the pursuit and she finished the individual in 69th place. The European Junior Championships in Bansko that same year were mixed . In the sprint she ran to 35th place, in the pursuit she did not start again and the Bosniakin did not finish the individual. In 2008, Karišik took part in three major junior events. At the World Championships in Ruhpolding , the young athlete finished 69th in the individual and 77th in the sprint. The European Championship in Nové Město na Moravě she finished 51st in the individual and 56th in the sprint. At the Summer Biathlon World Championships in Haute-Maurienne , she came in 18th place in the sprint and 16th in the pursuit in the cross-country competitions, but Karišik did not finish the roller-ski sprint. She ran her third Junior World Championship in Torsby in 2010 , where she came in 45th in the sprint and 54th in the individual.
Since 2008, Karišik has also started in the performance area. There she contested her first IBU Cup races for the 2008/09 season . The best result in the racing series so far is a 14th place in an individual, which she achieved in Osrblie . She contested her first race in the biathlon world cup in Oberhof in 2010 and finished 90th in a sprint race. In Antholz , she improved her best result to an 88th place in the sprint, which she also achieved in the sprint of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . She did not finish her second race, the individual. She was the only biathlete in Bosnia at the games.
Since the European Youth Olympic Festival 2009 in Szczyrk , Karišik has also been participating in cross-country skiing competitions. The first highlight was the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec , where it was 86th in the freestyle sprint and failed to qualify for the final races. She also took part in cross-country skiing at the 2010 Olympic Games, where she was 72 in the 10-kilometer freestyle. Shortly before the Games, she won her first - albeit weakly - FIS race on the Igman in the 5-kilometer freestyle. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she finished 72nd over 10 km classic. In the 2014/15 season she won two races of the Balkan Cup and won the overall cup standings. In the following season she came in second place twice over 5 km freestyle at the Balkan Cup in Pale and thus reached 11th place in the overall standings. The following year she finished 66th in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she came in 65th place over 10 km freestyle.
