In the wake of evil is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The film with Eva Mattes as chief detective Klara Blum was produced by SWR and broadcast for the first time in Germany and Austria on June 7, 2009. This 736th episode in the crime scene series is the 16th case of Klara Blum and the 12th case of Kai Perlmann .
action
The student Constanza Heinrich is found dead in a dumpster. The forensic doctor found high levels of drugs in her blood, but she was forcibly asphyxiated. Perlmann knew her and even spent the last evening with her in a club. He celebrated there with the young trainee Commissioners Fleiner and Mackert, who are doing an internship at his station. The team is now investigating four people and first seeks out Fabian Keller, the friend of the dead. Since this had an argument with his girlfriend, it can be assumed that he ambushed her that night. He merely admits to having watched her when she came out of the bar with Perlmann and accompanied him home. Because of this statement, Blum Perlmann has to take out of the investigation. Keller claims to have spent the night on a yacht, the yacht owner is Bernhard Sardis, who also owns the nightclub. He confirms Keller's statement that Constanze had left the restaurant with Perlmann, but cannot say whether Keller was on his yacht last night.
When the dead woman's cell phone was found, there were photos in the memory, which clearly showed that Perlmann had known Constanza for at least fourteen days. This means that an external Soko will deal with the case, as Blum, as a colleague of a suspect, cannot be regarded as impartial. Perlmann states that he was embarrassed that Fleiner and Mackert saw that he was with an obviously drug addict and therefore he did not tell the whole truth. The Chief Public Prosecutor Frentz wants Blum to pursue the case first to show that the police also know how to deal with internal difficulties.
Perlmann is investigating on his own to prove his innocence. When he wants to talk to Keller again, he finds him dead in his apartment. He apparently died of a drug overdose. Unfortunately, Blum finds more and more indications that speak against her colleague, so not only the DNA traces are positive. There is also a large amount of money in Perlmann's apartment, which belonged to Constanze, and during the forensic investigation of the dumpster, the officers discover a food stamp from the police canteen.
The interns Moritz Fleiner and Karl Mackert are firmly involved by Blum in the investigation of the murder case. Since the two also met with Constanza Heinrich on the evening of the crime, she keeps an eye on them both and determines the emotional Mackert to take the minutes of Perlmann's interrogation. While she conducts the interrogation with harshness and tactical skill, she pressures Perlmann so much that Mackert can no longer watch it and he confesses that Perlmann has nothing to do with the murder, but Moritz Fleiner came up with the idea to "turn on" Constanze and when he held her and she struggled and screamed, he covered her mouth and she choked to death. Mackert covered Fleiner so that he wouldn't reveal that he was gay.
Since Perlmann is now exonerated, Blum gives him back his badge and immediately begins investigating Keller's murder. The forensic doctor had determined that he could not have administered the drug himself. So Sardis comes into consideration, since both were obviously involved in illegal drug smuggling. He is arrested and admits, for fear that Keller would not hold out much longer, to having killed him together with an involved pharmacist.

Reviews
Kathrin Buchner from Stern.de judges: “The showdown does not take place in the dusty prairie sand of a western town, but in a dark interrogation cell at the Constance police headquarters. But the “Tatort” episode “In the Suction of Evil” certainly bears traits of a classic Western with Chief Inspector Klara Blum (Eva Mattes) as the avenger of the disenfranchised. She ate impartiality as a top priority with spoons and mercilessly pursues alleged villains in her own ranks. ”Blum shows herself as a“ governess and petty Korinthenkackerin who sing a song of praise for impartiality that leaves a rather stale aftertaste despite the exciting plot - even if the dust raised by the tranquil Lake Constance has long since settled. "
Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv assesses this crime scene as "largely without tension", since the type of "conviction of the murderer [...] is something of a sleight of hand" and "the parallel pharmaceutical case [...] has any connection to the Perlmann drama [is missing]. Author Susanne Schneider conjures a lot out of the hat, but little goes together and emotions certainly do not arise. The criminalistic construction is to be feared, the dialogues are repeaters like from the serial crime manual and the guest actors seem strangely lifeless. "The critic notes that:" Serial crime stories often get to the edge of credibility when inspectors suddenly during interrogation sit on the other side because they are suspected of a crime. "
The crime scene in the pull of evil is judged by Feridun Zaimoglu at Zeit-online as quite average. The critics perceive the story as “a diffuse mystery network that touches on many topics of the most varied kinds, also at times wants to be melodramatic, then again funny and cheerful, but in the end again offers the usual patchwork without greater depth. The fact that the TV broadcast has suddenly triggered a high in DKMS donations is at least the positive side note of a very poor end to the season. "
The critics of the television magazine TV-Spielfilm judge:
“Unfortunately the conflict leads to a completely absurd finale. It's a shame, 85 of the 90 minutes weren't bad at all. "
