Salü Palu is the 201st television film in the crime series Tatort and the seventh Tatort produced by Saarland Radio . It was first broadcast on January 24, 1988. It is the first case with Commissioner Palu as an investigator. Palu is dealing with an internationally operating girl trafficking ring.

action

Max Palu, successor to Chief Detective Schäfermann, picks up jazz pianist Jacques Domberg from custody, from which he is surprisingly released. Domberg was suspected of having traded cocaine. Palu gets Domberg an apartment, but he wants Domberg to introduce him to a gang of girl traffickers who drugged a number of girls from Saarbrücken and then made them submissive for prostitution. When Palu tells him that Domberg's friend Nina Farell was also a victim of the gang after Domberg ended up in prison, Domberg agrees to the deal. The two of them are observed by the red-light gangster Harro when Toompea, alarmed by the news about his girlfriend brought by Palu, visits his old local pub in the evening, Harro follows him. Domberg seeks out the landlady and former musician Alma, who does not know anything about Nina's whereabouts, but promises to ask around. Harro keeps an eye on Domberg and reports to his boss over the phone. Then Domberg goes to the “Village” disco, where he asks old friends about Nina. He asks the owner of the "Village", Mario Ross, about work, who hires him as a piano player and DJ, but admonishes him to limit himself to this work. Shortly thereafter, Domberg observes how Harro and his accomplice Pierre stun the 19-year-old Gaby Hamacher, who is passing through Saarbrücken, with knockout drops and kidnap them from the "Village". Domberg follows the gangsters, but is threatened by Harro. Alarmed by Domberg, Palu seeks out the manager of the "Village", Anne Corelli, who claims that she does not know the gangsters.

The next morning, Palu learns that a young girl has been recovered dead from the Saar. She was already dead when she was thrown in the water, presumably she died of a heroin overdose. Since the BKA smuggled an undercover agent into the girl trafficking ring, Palu and his people were instructed to hold back from the investigation and only act on instructions from Wiesbaden, much to Palu's displeasure. Palu later meets Anne Corelli again by chance, he starts a conversation with her and notes that he hopes she is not yet too deeply involved in the machinations around her. When she drives to Luxembourg with her boss Ross shortly afterwards, Palu follows the two, Ross introduces Corelli to his business partner Deschamps, who is pursuing major real estate plans, but Anne discovers that he is running a noble brothel before Deschamps sends her away to be alone with Ross to talk. Deschamps tells Ross that he doesn't trust Anne. Anne meets Palu in front of Deschamp's property, who takes her back to Saarbrücken and informs her that he is being threatened because of his investigation. While Palu and Anne get closer in the evening and spend the night together, Domberg observes how Pierre and Harro have organized a Luxembourg ambulance, while Domberg helplessly watches the gangsters transport the girl away.

From his Duisburg colleague Thanner, Palu learns about the missing Gaby Hamacher, who comes from Duisburg, Domberg confirms to Palu that she is the girl from the "Village" who was kidnapped by Pierre and Harro. Thanner explains to Palu that Deschamps runs a large girl trafficking ring and other gang-like crimes on a larger scale, Palu's assistant Kraus researches that Ross owns several restaurants and two tourist ships, but does not offer the latter for tourist trips despite an operating company. Meanwhile, Toomberg receives a tip from Alma about Nina's whereabouts, she is said to be held in a brothel. Palu goes on one of Rossi's tourist boats, when he discovers an unconscious girl there, he is knocked down by Harro and taken on horseback. Ross wants to do business with Palu, but when Palu proves to be incorruptible, Harro stuns Palu with a syringe. Ross drives Anne to Deschamps' estate in Luxembourg, where he also keeps Palu prisoner. When the latter told Ross that he had no chance because the BKA had smuggled one of its best men into the organization, Pierre disarmed Anne, Deschamps had suspected her and warned Ross accordingly. Ross now knows that Anne's real name is Johanna Korte and that she came to Saarbrücken under a false identity. When Ross sends his two men away and explains to Palu and Johanna that he intends to disguise their deaths as an accident, Domberg joins them. Although Ross wants to send him away, Domberg begins to play a piano piece that he often played for his friend Nina. Nina, who is being held captive in Deschamps' noble brothel, hears the piano playing and joins them, Domberg asks her to go home with him. When Nina explains that she was destroyed by the gangsters, Domberg draws a gun, Palu and Anne Ross manage to overpower and disarm. The girl trafficking ring is dug up.
