Career

In the club

Youth in Japan and Hamburg

Itō comes from the youth of Kashiwa Reysol and moved to Germany in July 2015 to the Hamburger SV youth training center . In the 2015/16 season , due to an injury, he only made 6 appearances in the A-Youth in the A-Juniors Bundesliga , in which he scored one goal. For the 2016/17 season, Itō moved up to the second men's team due to his age . He came this season to 19 missions in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord , in which he scored one goal.

Professional at Hamburger SV

Due to many injury-related failures, Itō trained with Markus Gisdol's first team at the beginning of the 2017/18 Bundesliga season . After sitting on the bench for the first time in the 3-0 defeat against Borussia Dortmund , he made his debut on September 24, 2017 on the following match day in the 3-0 defeat of HSV against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga when he was in the 82nd minute of play for André Hahn was substituted on. At 163 cm tall, Itō is behind Dieter Kurrat (162 cm) one of the smallest players in Bundesliga history. In the 0-0 draw against Werder Bremen a week later, he made his starting line-up debut. In December 2017 Itō received his first professional contract with a term until June 30, 2021. After Bernd Hollerbach had taken over the team in January , Itō only came on as a substitute in the 7 games under this and instead came a few times in the second team Christian Titz on duty. After Titz took over the professional team in March, he came back regularly and developed into a regular player in the final phase of the season. Under Titz, HSV came closer to 2 points before the last match day, but despite a win on the last match day, they were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time . Due to his good performance in the last games of the season, Ito, who had to be replaced shortly after half-time due to physical deficits in his starting eleven under Gisdol, received a lot of praise. In total, he made 20 Bundesliga (no goal) and 9 regional league appearances (no goal) during the season. For his achievements in the second half of the season Itō was led by the kicker sports magazine in the ranking of German football for the summer of 2018 on the position "offensive offensive" in the "field of vision".

In the 2018/19 season , Itō could not confirm his performances from the final phase of the preseason. He came under Titz and his successor Hannes Wolf on 14 second division appearances (no goal), of which he was in the starting line-up in half. In addition, Itō came to 3 missions (no goal) in the second team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord.

Change to Belgium

Because of his participation in the Copa America 2019 , Itō missed large parts of the summer preparation. He returned to Hamburg in mid-July and was transferred to the second team by the new head coach Dieter Hecking . After an assignment in the Regionalliga Nord, Itō moved to the Belgian first division club VV St. Truiden in late August .

In the national team

In March 2018 Ito was once a Japanese 21 team U- active. In June 2019 he took part in the Toulon tournament with the U22 selection , in which he made 3 appearances.

In September 2018 he was under the coach Hajime Moriyasu first time in the squad of the senior team 0 win over, 'came the 3 Costa Rica of under Kirin Cup but not used.
