history

Aerial photo (1964)

The village was first mentioned in a document as 1254 Torexella . There are various grave finds from prehistoric, Roman and early medieval times. The expression ad clausas Carvine in a document from 1354 suggests the presence of a fortification in the tavern, which in the early Middle Ages probably formed the northern limit of the possessions of the royal court of Agnuzzo. A castle used to stand on a long rocky hill, from which remains of the tower, the cistern and the curtain wall have been preserved. Despite the sparse tradition, it may have belonged to the Rusca family , who owned numerous estates in the area in the 13th and 14th centuries.
