Trzin (German Tersain ) is a municipality in the Gorenjska region in Slovenia . The oldest surviving documentary mention of Trzins comes from the year 1273. It is a document of the Teutonic Knights , in which claims to property of lands were regulated. Trzin was then called Direzin .
Trzin is also the birthplace of the Slovenian and Yugoslav banker, politician and publicist Ivan Hribar .

The municipality of Trzin has 3,385 inhabitants and is located at an altitude of 315 m. Trzin is located northeast of the capital Ljubljana . Trzin is the second smallest municipality in Slovenia.
