The Hazards of Love is the fifth studio album by the American indie folk band The Decemberists , which was released on March 24, 2009. The album was inspired by Anne Briggs ' EP The Hazards of Love . On January 15th, 2009 "The Rake's Song" was published for free on its own Myspace page. A month later "The Hazards of Love 1" was also offered for free download on MySpace.
The Hazards of Love was released on iTunes on March 17th, and the CD and vinyl versions hit stores on March 24th.
The full album was released exclusively on iTunes on December 1st as an animated video under the name Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized .
