reception

The album is "a sound document of a mainly visual experience," says Allmusic , and apart from the raw vocals , it shows no real differences to the studio versions of the songs. The website sputnikmusic.com praises the energy of the album which makes it hard to pass over.

The song Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes was nominated in 2001 for a Grammy in the category "Best Metal Performance", but the Deftones Elite won.
