Songs
The songs "(F) lannigan's Ball", "Fairmount Hill" and " Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya " are based on traditional Irish folk songs, with the lyrics of "(F) lannigan's Ball" (= " Lanigan's Ball ") and "Fairmount Hill "(=" Spancil Hill ") have been greatly changed compared to the original. They each contain various allusions to locations in the Boston area and to people close to the band.
"(F) lannigan's Ball" was partially recorded at Westland Studios in Dublin . Ronnie Drew from the well-known Irish folk band " The Dubliners " and Spider Stacy from " The Pogues " played on this song . The song is dedicated to Drew's wife Deirdre, who died a few weeks before the recording. It was also the last song that Ronnie Drew recorded before he passed away on August 16, 2008 at the age of 73.
