The Singles 81> 85 is the first compilation album of Depeche Mode and published 1985th As part of the release of their second compilation The Singles 86> 98 , the compilation was re-released in 1998 as a remastered version with two bonus songs.

Commercial win

The compilation entered the German album charts on November 4, 1985 at number 28. In the following chart week, The Singles climbed 81> 85 to number 9, which is the highest position for this album in the German album charts. The album was in the charts for 16 weeks. In the course of the re-release in 1998, the album entered the German album charts again on November 9, 1998 and was able to place another 20 chart weeks. The last time he was able to return to work was on April 1, 2001 for two weeks. For over 250,000 copies sold in Germany, the compilation was awarded a gold record by the Bundesverband Musikindustrie in 1990 . It entered the Swiss charts at number 14 on November 10, 1985, and the album spent eight weeks in these charts.

The Singles 81> 85 entered the British album charts on October 26, 1985 at number 8, and a week later the best placement was achieved at number 6. The album was able to stay in the charts for 17 weeks, and in 1986 it was re-entered three times for a total of five weeks. In the course of the release of the remastered version in 1998, the album also reached positions in the album charts in Great Britain for two weeks. The last re-entry into the British album charts was on May 15, 2004 for two weeks. For over 100,000 copies sold, the album was awarded gold by the British Phonographic Industry in 1985. Placement in the US Billboard 200 was 81> 85 The Singles only reach during the re-release. In 1999 the compilation was placed in the album charts for three weeks.
