This discography is an overview of the musical works of the English group Depeche Mode . It consists of 14 studio albums , six live albums, 17 compilations , 58 singles and nine box sets released by Mute Records , Sire Records , Reprise Records and Columbia Records . There are also 58 music videos , twelve music VHS / DVDs (without re-releases) and six DVD singles .

Depeche Mode [ dəˌpɛʃmoʊd ] is an English synth-rock - or synth pop - group , which in 1980 in Basildon , Essex , England was founded. The original formation was made up of Dave Gahan (vocals), Martin Gore (keyboard, guitar, vocals, main songwriter after 1981), Andrew Fletcher (keyboard) and Vince Clarke (keyboard, main songwriter from 1980 to 1981). Vince Clarke left the band after the release of the 1981 debut album and was replaced by Alan Wilder (production, keyboards, drums), who was a member of the group from 1982 to 1995. The group currently exists as a trio with Gahan, Gore and Fletcher.

Since their debut in 1981, the band has placed 48 songs in both the British and German charts. According to information from the record company Mute Records , Depeche Mode have sold over 100 million records worldwide. In Germany alone they have sold over six million records to date, making them one of the performers with the highest number of records sold in Germany . The concert video Devotional by Anton Corbijn was at the Grammy Awards 1995 in the category Music Video Best nominated. Suffer Well , the third single from the album Playing the Angel , was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2007 Grammy Awards . In 2008 the Depeche Mode catalog was published on the iTunes Store as The Complete Depeche Mode . On December 3, 2009, the album Sounds of the Universe was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Alternative Album . The video for the single Wrong received another nomination for Best Short Form Music Video at the 52nd Grammy Awards.

A special feature of German Depeche Mode records in the 1980s was that many editions were pressed in colored vinyl instead of black .
