action

A gang of car rockers, some of them drug addicts, have been terrorizing teenagers in a small town in Arizona for months. Couples are ambushed, the drivers of their cars are forced to take part in illegal car races that they can only lose against the massively tuned vehicles of the rockers. The victims' cars that are used in the races are either upgraded themselves to make them available for races, or they are sold to finance wild parties, drug use and illegal business. The gang's meeting point is a large food stand in front of town, where the pretty Keri Johnson works as a waitress. Packard Walsh, the charismatic and particularly violent leader of the rocker gang, leads a strict regime and forces Keri into a relationship with him. The local sheriff, who is about to be re-elected, has so far left Packard and his gang alone, as he has only assumed temporary disputes between youngsters.

While Packard is about to challenge Billy, the tenant of the food stand and brother of Keri's murdered friend Jamie, to a race, an unknown person appears with the Turbo Interceptor, a futuristic black sports car with darkened windows, which immediately arouses the desires of Packard and his gang members. This race ends for the driver in a fatal collision, but no debris from another vehicle is found at the scene of the accident.

It is typical here that the victims, who (should) be burned by the explosion of their car, are found more or less unscathed and their eyes are simply missing.

While the police are looking for the black high-tech turbo, a mysterious strange boy who introduces himself as Jake comes into town and wins Keri's heart in no time at all.

The apparently indestructible high-tech car and its driver continue to pursue Packard and his gang and are not stopped by a massive police presence. After another race with a fatal outcome, roadblocks are set up, but the car breaks through them effortlessly without taking a single scratch, disappears into the desert and suddenly reappears anywhere. Slowly it dawns not only on Packard, but also on the sheriff that a higher power has its fingers or tires in the game.

After the Turbo Interceptor turned the gang's tuning workshop into a field of rubble and two other gang members were killed, Packard kidnaps Keri and wants to leave town with her. The Turbo Interceptor chases them, but it is only when Keri approaches the stranger that the circle comes full.

Jake is identical to the driver of the interceptor and Jamie, who has returned from the dead, who is settling accounts with his murderers. Only Rughead is spared from Packard's gang, as he was not involved in the murder. After Packard has also come to an end, Jake gives his brother the Interceptor and leaves town with Keri.
