Thomas Bruns (born January 7, 1992 in Wierden , Overijssel ) is a Dutch football player. He has been under contract with Vitesse Arnheim since 2017 .

Career

Bruns played for SV Omhoog in his youth and since 2003 in the youth academy of FC Twente in Enschede . In the winter break of the 2010/11 season, the all-round midfielder moved to the honorary division Heracles in Almelo , where he was initially used in the second team Jong Heracles Almelo . On April 9, 2011, he made his debut in the top division when he came on for Everton in the 6-2 win over Willem II in Tilburg ten minutes before the end of the game . However, it remained his only Eredivisie mission this season.

In the first half of the 2011/12 season Bruns made six short appearances as a substitute; it was not until the second half of the season, on February 18, 2012, that he was in the starting line-up of coach Peter Bosz for the first time against Roda JC Kerkrade . Bruns scored his first competitive goal for Heracles on March 22, 2012 in the semi-finals of the cup competition at AZ in Alkmaar . He was substituted on in the 106th minute of extra time when the score was 2: 2 for center forward Samuel Armenteros and four minutes later marked the decisive goal to make it 3: 2; then he also gave the template to 4: 2 by the also substituted Ninos Gouriye .

While Bruns initially played on the left or in the center of midfield - he likes the offensive role best himself - he switched to the right side during the first half of the 2012/13 season , where he usually played in a 3-4-3 formation in midfield or in 4-3-3 system is also used as the right man in the back four .
