Thomas Ebenstein
Thomas Ebenstein (born 1979 in Carinthia ) is an Austrian opera singer with a tenor voice . He has been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble since 2012 .
life and work
Ebenstein completed his vocal training with Helena Łazarska at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . His teacher still looks after him today. He also attended KS Robert Holl's song class and graduated with honors in 2004. From 2003 to 2012 he was a member of the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin , and since the 2012/2013 season he has been a member of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera. Guest engagements led the singer, among others, to the Semper Opera in Dresden, the German Opera on the Rhine , the Theater Dortmund and the Berlin State Opera in Berlin, Kiel, Krefeld, to the Theater Vorpommern in Stralsund , Bergen, Hong Kong and the Ruhr Triennale , at the Grand Théâtre de Genève , the Theater an der Wien , the Wiener Festwochen and the Volksoper Wien . It sang at both the Salzburg Festival and the Salzburg Easter Festival .

Ebensten has received several awards: in 2001 at the International Dvořak Competition in Karlsbad (Czech Republic), in 2003 at the Musica Juventutis Competition at the Wiener Konzerthaus and in 2005 at the International Heinrich Strecker Competition in Baden near Vienna. In 2007 he received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation for the Bayreuth Festival .
