Thomas Hartung (journalist)

Thomas Hartung (born March 18, 1962 in Erfurt ) is a German Germanist , journalist and politician ( AfD ).

Life

After graduating from high school in 1980 at the Humboldt Oberschule in Erfurt, Hartung did his military service with the NVA from 1980 to 1983 .

From 1983 to 1988 he studied German and history to become a teacher at the Erich Weinert University of Education in Magdeburg (graduate teacher). A stay abroad took him to the Kharkov University of Education in the Soviet Union. From 1988 to 1992 he was a doctoral student at the Institute of German Studies in Magdeburg and in 1992 with a thesis on the science fiction of East Germany from 1980 to 1990. An entertainment literary survey under thematic and effective specific aspect to Dr. phil. (with cum laude ) PhD. In 1992 he was a brief research assistant and project manager at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg .

From 1990 he worked part-time as a freelance journalist for the daily newspaper Volksstimme Magdeburg and the radio stations MDR 1 Sachsen-Anhalt and MDR Kultur , later as editor of the news for Radio SAW (1992-1993) and Antenne Sachsen (1993-1995). In 1995 he was the managing director of the “Young Media Saxony” association in Dresden. From 1995 to 2001 he was deputy editor-in-chief, head of the service and editor-in-chief for the Dresden hub, Dresden television and Saxony television . Hartung produced the first East German university magazine 035eins at the Technical University of Dresden in 1998 and in 2001 - as studio manager of SAEK Bautzen - the first TV magazine in Upper Sorbian , Serbske Wokno .

From 2002 to 2014 Thomas Hartung worked as a lecturer for journalism, media production and marketing communication at universities, colleges and academies. For a short time he was also Head of Press / PR at the trade fair organizer TMS Dresden. He also works as a speaker and trainer, u. a. for the Saxon wine sovereignty , as well as volunteer in three Dresden IHK examination commissions. He is a member of the National Board of Trustees for the Kurd-Laßwitz Prize .

In 2013 he became deputy chairman of the Saxony regional association of the Alternative for Germany party . In June 2014 he released in the Internet community by derogatory remarks about the Spanish teacher Pablo Pineda Ferrer with Down syndrome on his own Facebook -profile a so-called Shitstorm out. As a result, Hartung resigned all party offices in the AfD and the state parliament candidacy on June 25, 2014. The Technical University of Dresden announced that it would release Hartung from his duties with immediate effect.

From December 20, 2014 to January 28, 2015, he did press work for Pegida . Since March 2016 he has been a member of the AfD state executive again. On November 7, 2016, he was nominated as a direct candidate for the Bundestag constituency Dresden II - Bautzen II . The election was successfully challenged before the regional arbitration court, and when it was repeated in January it was defeated by Stefan Vogel, the AfD parliamentary group leader in the Dresden city council.

On September 27, 2017, Hartung announced his resignation as deputy state chairman and press spokesman for AfD Saxony, after Frauke Petry , Uwe Wurlitzer and Kirsten Muster had left the AfD parliamentary group the day before . He is the deputy head of the “Land des Geistes” technical committee and is therefore a member of both federal technical committee 6 and the state program commission. From him comes the resolution of the "Government Program 2019" of the AfD Saxony for the state elections in Saxony 2019 . As a list candidate, he was one of the 31 AfD candidates deleted by the state election commission.

In 2019 he published two books with observations by a conservative about Germany.

Since March 1, 2020 he has been the press spokesman for the AfD parliamentary group in Baden-Württemberg.
