Thomas Pfeiffer (singer)

Thomas Pfeiffer (* 1946 in Pleidelsheim ) is a German singer ( baritone ) and professor for singing at the Stuttgart University of Music .

Life

Pfeiffer studied singing with Helmut Lips, Lied class with Hubert Giesen and Konrad Richter and opera school with Klaus Nagora at the Stuttgart Music Academy . After completing his studies, he received teaching assignments for singing at the church music school in Esslingen and at the Stuttgart University of Music, where he has been a professor since 1992. Pfeiffer's pupils included the mezzo-soprano Cornelia Lanz and the soprano Ines Lex .

Pfeiffer sang in concerts as a student. As a lieder, oratorio and opera singer, he is a regular guest at festivals such as the Donaufestwochen , the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence and the Kunstverein Weimar . At the Besançon Festival he was the soloist of the orchestra “Les Amoureux” with Bach's Mass in B minor ( BWV 232). His repertoire also includes works by Mozart , Haydn , Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Smetana . His artistic work also includes radio and television recordings as well as regular singing courses for the German Tonkünstlerverband or the International Working Group for Music. His CD recordings include the three song cycles by Schubert , songs by Richard Strauss , the Rückert songs , Mozart's Singspiel fragment Zaide , Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle and Bach's St. Matthew Passion . He is a juror in music competitions. Pfeiffer regularly supports the association for children with cancer in Tübingen with concerts . In a benefit concert he campaigned for the earthquake victims in Japan .

Thomas Pfeiffer lives in Döttingen ( Schwäbisch Hall district ) in the Hohenlohe region . Three daughters of Pfeiffer - Karolin Leucht, Helene Pfeiffer and Anne-Bärbel Pfeiffer - make up the vocal trio Tre Sorelle , which once performed with folk songs like Zogen five wild swans and sacred chorales like Praise be to Jesus Christ .
