Thomas Powell (born February 12, 1986 in Sydney ) is an Australian ice hockey player who is under contract with Melbourne Ice in the Australian Ice Hockey League .

Career

Thomas Powell has spent his entire ice hockey career at Melbourne Ice , for which he has been on the ice since 2003 in the Australian Ice Hockey League . In 2007 he was named the most valuable player in the league. In 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2017 he won the Australian Championship, the Goodall Cup, with his team . Before the 2018 season he was nominated for the AIHL All-Star Game.

International

For Australia Powell first took part in the junior division of the U20 World Junior Championship in Division III in 2004 and achieved promotion to Division II at the tournament in Sofia , to which he had contributed significantly with 10 scorer points (seven goals and three preparations). In Division II he then played with his team at the U-20 World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006 .

In the men's area, he was for the first time at the World Championships of Division II in his country in 2008 and reached with the "Aussies" by winning the home tournament in Newcastle, the first promotion to Division I. There Powell was not used and so he played the immediate relegation of the Australians in Division II in 2010 and 2011. After being promoted again in 2011 at another home tournament, this time in Melbourne , he entered Division I for the first time in 2012 and had to relegate his team immediately, so that he was on the ice again in Division II in 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 .
