Thomas Ziegler (born November 24, 1980 in Arnstadt near Erfurt ) is a former German cyclist , mountain biker and later triathlete .

Life

Ziegler started cycling in 1993 as a mountain biker. As a member of the mountain bike junior national team, he attended the sports high school in Erfurt in 1997 and also started road racing there. As a rider of the German national road cycling team , he won the mountain classification of the Trofeo Karlsberg in 1998 . In 2000, he started for the team TEAG Köstritzer and was the 2002 Team Wiesenhof professional . After a year at Wiesenhof, he moved to Team Gerolsteiner , where he had a contract until the end of the 2005 season. For the 2006 season, Ziegler moved to the T-Mobile team . Thomas Ziegler ended his career as an active professional cyclist at the end of the 2007 season.

Since February 2008 Ziegler has been running the Saikls cycling shop in Hanover together with Grischa Niermann and Roman Jördens and was also the sports director for the first time on the night of Hanover in 2008. Thomas Ziegler started for the first time in 2010 at the Ironman triathlons Ironman Germany (Frankfurt am Main) and Challenge Roth .
