Thomas von dem Knesebeck (born June 14, 1628 in Tylsen , † January 23, 1689 in Berlin ) was a Brandenburg statesman .
Life
Origin and family
Thomas was a member of the Altmark noble family von dem Knesebeck . His parents were the Hofmeister in Anhalt Hempo von dem Knesebeck (1595–1656) and Anna, née von Jagow .
Career
Knesebeck was enrolled at the University of Helmstedt since June 3, 1640 and moved to the University of Strasbourg around 1645 . His cavalier tour , begun in 1650, took him through Breisach , Basel , Geneva , Lyon and Paris .
Knesebeck began his career in 1659 as an ambassador from Anhalt to Vienna . In 1660 he was promoted to Privy Councilor and Court Master of Prince Wilhelm Ludwig von Anhalt-Köthen (1638–1665). As The Blessed One , he was accepted into the Fruitful Society in 1661 . With the death of his employer, he became Wittumsrat and court master of the widow Elisabeth Charlotte (1647–1723) and court marshal of all the Anhalt courts. On February 12, 1670 he said goodbye and he changed as a Real Privy Councilor , Oberhofmarschall and Chamber Director in Bayreuth in Brandenburg services. In the years 1672 to 1688 he was chief steward of the Electress Dorothea von Brandenburg (1636-1689). He was sent several times as an envoy to Danish and Electoral Saxon courts. From 1686 to 1689 he was the chamber court and consistorial president, and from July 1, 1680, as successor to Achaz von dem Knesebeck (1633–1674), he was also governor of the Altmark .
