Torah Thyselius
Thora Thyselius also Thora Behrens-Thyselius (born June 19, 1911 in Brake (Unterweser) ; † March 8, 1991 ibid) was a German author who published mainly in Low German .
Life
Thyselius grew up in the Wesermarsch , but spent part of her childhood on the Mellersee in Sweden . Her father was a shipowner and Swedish consul , her mother came from East Frisia . She attended the Lyceum and the secondary school in Brake . In 1931 she passed her school leaving examination and a year later married the elementary school teacher Edo Behrens , who went missing in Russia in 1944 during World War II .
Thyselius began writing Low German stories even before the war. After 1945 she worked as a freelance writer and published stories , short stories and novels as well as plays and radio plays , which were produced between 1954 and 1977 for NDR , Radio Bremen and WDR .
The author lived in her hometown of Brake and had two sons.
