Thorben-Johannes Deters (born August 20, 1995 in Meppen ) is a German football player . The midfielder has been under contract with VfB Lübeck since July 2020 .

Career

The midfielder Thorben Deters is the son of Bernd Deters , who is SV Meppen's record player with 524 appearances . Thorben Deters began his career at the Meppen district club Sportfreunde Schwefingen . At the age of ten, Deters switched to the youth department at SV Meppen and went through all youth teams there. For the 2014/15 season, Deters moved up to the first team that played in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord at the time. Already in the preseason , he debuted as A-Junior and scored his first goal directly. With SV Meppen, Deters became champions of the Regionalliga Nord in the 2016/17 season and prevailed against SV Waldhof Mannheim in the subsequent promotion games to the 3rd division . In the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons , Deters played 21 third division games, in which he was substituted on.

After 13 years in the service of Lower Saxony, Deters left the club at the end of January 2019 and switched to the second team of Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf , for which he only played two second round matches in the Regionalliga West .

For the 2019/20 regional league season , the offensive midfielder moved to Regionalliga Nord for SK Hansa from Lüneburg , where he received a two-year contract. Deters started the season with the team as a regular player and quickly became the team's top scorer. On the first 9 match days he scored 7 goals, including a three-pack against SSV Jeddeloh on match day 6. In the further course of the season he managed another hit. During the season, which had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , it was used in all 22 LSK games in the starting XI .

For the 2020/21 season, Deters moved to the 3rd division for VfB Lübeck . He signed a contract with the promoted team until June 30, 2021, which is also valid for the Regionalliga Nord.
