Florian Riedel (born April 9, 1990 in Werdau ) is a German soccer player who has been under contract with VfB Lübeck since July 2018 .
Player career
Young players
Florian Riedel first played in the youth teams of Rot-Weiß Werdau and FSV Zwickau , before joining Hertha BSC's junior team in 2005 . In April 2007 he won the soccer world championship held in Chile with the Poelchau Oberschule . The winning selection of students also included Riedel's Herthan teammates Fabian Holland , Marvin Knoll , Alfredo Morales , Fanol Perdedaj and Kevin Stephan .
Professional player
In summer 2008 Riedel signed a three-year contract with Hertha. Shortly thereafter, he made his debut under Lucien Favre in the Hertha BSC first team when he came on as a substitute in the UEFA Cup at FC Nistru Otaci . After that, however, he did not get beyond training in the first team and instead only played games for the U23.
In 2010 Riedel signed a contract with the Dutch club AGOVV Apeldoorn . In the Eerste Divisie they finished 15th at the end of the season. For the 2011/12 season Riedel moved back to Germany to the third division club VfL Osnabrück .
In the summer of 2012, Riedel moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for 1. FC Kaiserslautern . There he signed a three-year contract. On September 30, 2012 he made his debut for FCK in the home game against Braunschweig , when he came on for Konstantinos Fortounis in the 84th minute . In the 91st minute he received the red card for rough play and was suspended for three games. In the 1-0 away win on February 4, 2013 against 1860 Munich , he scored the winning goal in the 87th minute with his first ball contact, which was also his first professional goal. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season , Riedel suffered a serious shoulder injury , which led to two operations after a time. At the end of March 2014 he came back for the first time for the second team of the FCK. In the following season he was no longer considered by coach Kosta Runjaic for the professional team. After the end of the contract in summer 2015, Riedel was initially without a club before signing a contract with Eintracht Trier until June 30, 2017 at the beginning of 2016 . After Riedel relegated from the Regionalliga Südwest with the Mosel townspeople , he joined FC Viktoria Berlin in the Regionalliga Nordost for the 2017/18 season .
Again just one year later, the 2018/19 season saw the transfer to VfB Lübeck in the Regionalliga Nord . He signed a contract with the Hanseatic city until 2020. Under head coach Rolf Martin Landerl , Riedel was part of the regular staff and played 33 league games (all from the start) in which he scored a goal. The 2019/20 season was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March. At that time, VfB Lübeck was in 1st place after 25 games. By then, Riedel had played 22 games (all from the start) in which he scored 3 goals. When the termination of the season was decided, the VfB Lübeck was declared champion and promoted to the 3rd division , since the northern relay was the direct promoter this year.
