Ryan Patrick Malone (born August 11, 1992 in Chicopee , Massachusetts ) is an American football player who has been active in the fourth-class German Regionalliga Nord at VfB Lübeck since the 2019/20 season .

Career

Malone learned to play soccer at Chicopee Comprehensive High School in Massachusetts . He was named "NEWMAC Rookie of the Year" in his first season 2010/11 at Springfield College. In the 2013/14 season he scored 13 goals in 19 games and gave four assists; this led to three Allstar Team mentions. In the 2014/15 season he scored six goals and a total of 12 scorer points, was appointed to three different all-star teams, was elected Defender of the Year in the 3rd Division and received a professional contract with the German third division club 1. FC Magdeburg.

Malone made his professional debut on September 15, 2015 in a 3-0 win against VfL Osnabrück . Three short appearances later, on October 24, 2015, the starting line-up debut against SV Wehen Wiesbaden . Malone's winning goal in this game was also his first goal as a professional. On the 16th matchday of the 3rd league season on November 7th, 2015 in the game against Preußen Münster , Malone was injured in the knee and was then out for almost 6 months. Only at the end of the season did he have three short assignments, after which the fan favorite's contract was no longer extended.

For the 2016/17 season , the American, known for his long throw-ins, moved to the fourth-class Regionalliga Südwest for the Stuttgarter Kickers .

For the 2017/18 season , Malone moved to the Regionalliga Nordost for 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . He received a contract with a term until June 30, 2019. He came in his first season on 30 league appearances, in which he scored 10 goals. In the following season 2018/19, which was disappointing for Leipzig in the course of the season , Malone was again one of the most successful goal scorers of the Saxon club with 9 goals (4 penalties) after Matthias Steinborn .
