Those Damn Crows ( English : Those damn crows ) is a Welsh rock band from Bridgend .

history

The band formed in 2014 when drummer Ronnie Huxford invited his old school friend and singer Shane Greenhall to join his band. In addition to Huxford, guitarist Ian Thomas and bassist Lloyd Wood also belonged to the band. A little later, the second guitarist David Winchurch completed the group. The band name goes back to the father of Ronnie Huxford. He wanted to feed birds in his garden before an incident involving crows occurred. Their first single Fear of the Broken was celebrated on the website of Kerrang magazine ! their premiere. Shortly afterwards, the British Metal Hammer presented Those Damn Crows to its readers as the “new band of the week”.

In 2016 the band recorded their debut album Murder and the Motive at Rockfield Studio, where Queen recorded their song Bohemian Rhapsody , which was released in the same year on their own. Many concerts with bands like The Quireboys , Stone Broken or Monster Magnet followed, as well as festival appearances, before Those Damn Crows were signed by Earache Records in 2018 . On October 5th, 2018, the first album was re-released with a modified track list. A year later, the band played at the download festival and worked on their second studio album. Point of No Return was released on February 7, 2020 and produced by Colin Richardson and Andy Sneap and debuted at number 14 on the UK album charts.

style

John D. Buchanan of the online magazine Allmusic wrote that Those Damn Crows "play ultra-modern hard rock that keeps the spirit of the 1970s and 1980s alive". The German magazine laut.de describes the music as alternative rock and compared Those Damn Crows with Alter Bridge , Shinedown and Black Stone Cherry . Frank Thiessies from the German magazine Metal Hammer recommended Those Damn Crows "to all fans of modern to alternative rock styles who are rather bored by the lack of talent of transatlantic troops like Three Days Grace , Theory of a Deadman , Hinder or Hoobastank ". Andreas Schiffmann from the online magazine Musikreviews.de named Nickelback and Stone Sour as references.
