Tigbauan ( Filipino : Bayan ng Tigbauan , Hiligaynon : Sangguniang Bayan Tigbauan ) is a large community in the province of Iloilo on the island of Panay in the Philippines . It has 62,706 inhabitants (August 1st 2015 census) who live in 52 barangays . It belongs to the second income bracket of the communities in the Philippines and is described as partially urban .
Tigbauan is located on the south coast of Panay Island, on the Panay Gulf . The capital of the province, Iloilo City , is about 30 km southeast of the municipality and can be reached from there by bus or jeepney . The neighboring communities are Guimbal and Tubungan in the west, Oton in the east, Leon in the north.
