Timothy "Tim" Nedow (born October 16, 1990 in Brockville ) is a Canadian shot putter who occasionally competes in a discus throw .
Athletic career
Tim Nedow gained his first international experience at the Pan American Junior Championships 2009 in Port of Spain , where he won the bronze medal in the shot put with 19.00 m. Two years later he took part in the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen , where he finished twelfth with 18.13 m in the final. In 2012 he finished fourth at the U23 NACAC Championships in Irapuato with 18.99 m in the shot put and sixth in the discus throw with 54.64 m. In 2013 he qualified for the first time for the World Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated with 18.72 m in the qualification. He then won the bronze medal at the Francophonie Games in Nice with 19.09 m. In 2014 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , where he also won bronze with 20.59 m.
In 2015 he won the shot put at the Pan American Games in Toronto with 20.53 m silver behind the Jamaican O'Dayne Richards and was sixth in the discus throw with 61.49 m. In the shot put, he qualified again for the World Championships in Beijing , where he again did not get past the first round with 19.63 m . In 2016 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Portland , where he finished seventh with 20.23 m. During the outdoor season he also took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for the first time and was eliminated there with 20.00 m in the qualifying round .
In 2017 he took part again in the World Championships in London and failed there with 20.09 m in the first round . At the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , he finished ninth with 20.82 m and won the bronze medal again with 20.91 m at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast at the beginning of April .
Between 2012 and 2015 Nedow was the Canadian champion in discus throwing and between 2013 and 2018 in the shot put. He is a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago .
