Tim Wells (* 1951 in Baltimore ) is an American creative jazz bassist .

Live and act

Wells studied from 1972 to 1975 at Berklee College of Music , after which he continued to work in Boston . In 1983 he moved to Cologne , where he worked with the WDR Big Band Cologne , Tome XX , the Pinguin Liquid Ensemble by Klaus König , with Charlie Mariano and with Eje Thelin and Stefan Bauer , but also with Sam Rivers , David Friedman , Charles McPherson and Woody Shaw . From 1988 to 1989 he taught jazz bass and jazz ensembles at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen . In 1989 he moved to London , where he played in the big band of Stan Sulzmann and the London Jazz Orchestra as well as with John Law , Pat Crumly, James Moody , Johnny Griffin , Trevor Tomkins , Norma Winstone , Henry Lowther , Tim Garland and Pete Hurt. He toured New Zealand and Greece with the Ronnie Scott Legacy Quartet . He has performed at numerous European festivals with Jon Lloyd's quartet.
